From the moment Leighton was born, her dad used her as either a pawn or a prop for his nefarious needs. Leighton’s dad was part grifter, part abuser, part predator, and because of that, Leighton lived her life in constant chaos. Leighton lived a lonely life, shuffling around from state to state, being abused, but also having front row seats to the abuse of others. A guilt prop for an endless sea of unwitting Mormon women, and vulnerable women alike. And unfortunately, the confusion of this lifestyle left Leighton with Stockholm Syndrome and the delicate unpacking of her father’s dirty laundry. *** TRIGGER WARNING – This episode discusses graphic depictions of physical abuse, childhood physical abuse, child abuse, sexual abuse, and child sexual abuse. ***
Also discussed in this episode, abusive relationships, isolation, control, parental alienation, faux Mormonism, coping mechanisms, the healing process, gaslighting, projection, pedophilia, financial abuse, narcissistic abuse, nitpicking, emotional abuse, escape plans, addiction, putdowns, devaluation, and much more.
