Her father was emotionally distant and physically intimidating, while her mother, Penny, struggled with addiction and mental health issues. Lori was sent to live with her grandmother due to her mother’s condition, only to be taken by her dad to live with him and her resentful new stepmother.
It’s a story of triangulation, adoption, divorce, addiction, anger, tantrums, hiding in plain sight, neglect, resentment, loneliness, fear, moving goal posts, erasing your identity, trust, support, intimidation and physical abuse.
